Why did you choose "Seasons of Love" as your song and how do you think the message of this song in the musical and in your video help add to the story you are telling? The pictures you chose really work with the narration and make it interesting to watch!
ReplyDeleteWhat made you choose Rent? Had you previously known about this musical? I liked that you summed up the story so clearly and the style of the video added to the nostalgic effects too.
ReplyDeleteYour theme went really well with your topic and I also liked how you went through each character in first person. When this musical was first performed, do you know if there was a lot of controversy over it?
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I found interesting was that most of the characters had HIV or AIDS. What was the big with that? Was HIV and AIDS major controversies at the time? I think they were trying to emphasize that homosexuals and promiscuous girls are the main people who have HIV or AIDS. What do you think. Also, Why wouldn't they pay the rent?

ReplyDeleteWas this musical out during the first known break-out of HIV? I think you made a great play for people who not familiar with the musical along with the people who are not familiar. Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have never actually watched the musical before, so it was very interesting to see your views. I was really amazed when I found out that so many characters were HIV positive. I immediately thought about the HIV break-out and how it affected the black communities. I think that this musical is extremely daring because it depicts both homosexuals and the threatening AIDS virus, things that most people were afraid to speak about on screen.
